Are you on the search for an electric Mercedes-Benz vehicle? Mercedes-Benz of Burlington is excited to help you make the transition to alternative energy driving, and to match you with the perfect low or no-impact ride. We’re sharing all you need to know about driving electric, with info on important terms, like electric range.

Electric Driving at a Glance

There are many reasons to consider an electric vehicle, or EV, when the time comes for your next car. EVs have a much lower impact on the environment, and you’ll save money on fuel with every ride. You’ll also have access to incentives and subsidies for both the vehicle and at-home charging station installation.

One of the things you really want to consider when it comes to your next electric car is the range. Range refers to the number of miles you can travel on a full charge, which means the vehicle has full battery before you hit the road. Many new electric vehicles have range comparable to internal combustion engine vehicles.

Like gasoline powered cars, there are many different factors that can affect a vehicle’s range. Here are just a few.

Speed

Electric vehicles perform better in city and local driving conditions, whereas gasoline-powered cars have better fuel economy on the open road.

Charging Preference

DC fast charging allows you to charge your vehicle quickly, so you can get back out on the road. That said, DC fast charging can affect battery capacity over time, and may reduce range, so it’s a good idea to use Level 2 charging, when possible.

Battery Age

The battery in your EV will lose capacity over time, so if you notice a decrease in range capacity, bring your battery in for service or replacement.
