The Mercedes-Benz GLC 43’s engine is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 with 362 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. If you’d like more power, the GLC 63 is equipped with a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 making 469 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The GLC Class standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbo-4 with 241 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the back wheels or all four. The Lexus RX 350 comes with a 3.5-liter V6 delivering 295 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, matched to an 8-speed automatic.
The GLC 300 earned 5 Stars for Overall Crash Test and Overall Frontal Crash ratings. The RX 350 earned only 4 Stars in both ratings. A standard safety feature unique to the GLC Class is front airbag deactivation via a Child Seat Detection System. Other GLC safety features include Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Rear Parking Aid with Camera, Lane-Keeping Assist, Crosswind Assist, Variable Assisted Steering, Pre-Safe Distronic Plus Intelligent Cruise Control, and Active Blind-Spot Monitor. Lexus RX 350 provides some but not all of these safety features.
Standard GLC 300 features that are not standard on the RX 350 include 19.4 cubic feet of cargo volume (vs 18.4 on the RX), electronic brake assist, automatic adaptive variable suspension, genuine wood trim on instrument panel, front dual power headrests, front power memory seats, telematic internet services, in-glass radio antenna, rear armrest storage, locking fuel filler, memory adjustable exterior mirrors, twin complex surface halogen headlights, and unlimited roadside assistance. GLC options unavailable on the RX 350 include automatic load-leveling and a cargo net.
